MOVIES Chris pratt

No actor can boast a perfect résumé, but with Chris Pratt’s launch into Marvel Universe fame, many often forget that he’s been anything other than Star-Lord, one of the most musically inclined and hilarious ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’

He seems to be in hit after hit, becoming a red carpet staple and Hollywood heartthrob, but his career hasn’t always been a bed of roses.

Like most struggling actors trying to make it, Pratt was waiting tables hoping for his big break. Luckily for him, it actually happened! A film director walked in, complimented him on his looks, asked if he was an actor, and a mere four days later he found himself in Los Angeles.

If that director had taken a liking to another waiter, Pratt might've still been waiting tables. Or, he might've continued making money as a stripper, living out of his van on the beach in Maui after dropping out of community college.

But even after he got into the industry, there was no guarantee that he would be a hit. The actor has appeared in numerous films, in roles both big and small, that have been highly criticized—or worse, they’ve been unworthy of a closer examination. That being said, he’s also landed small roles in widely successful films and benefited greatly from the association. And, of course, his talent and sense of humor has come through in various lauded roles.

In honor of his 40th birthday on June 21, click through this gallery to see the best and worst of his movie appearances (shout-out to everyone who will always love Pratt for his role in the TV show ‘Parks and Recreation’) and decide for yourself which is worth the watch.
