Your coffee addiction might actually be good for you
Caffeine fiends, rejoice!
With the rise of green juices and caffeine-free alternatives, your daily cup of joe may seem like a worse and worse idea. But fear not, coffee lovers, for there are actually quite a few health benefits to the steamy black liquid you regularly pour into your body!
According to a study by the Stanford University School of Medicine, there is a link between coffee drinkers and a lower risk of inflammation-related disease.
"More than 90% of all non-communicable diseases of aging are associated with chronic inflammation," lead author David Furman said, according to InStyle.
Inflammation is a natural part of aging, but persistent levels can lead to problems like heart disease. When analyzing the blood samples of 100 people, however, researchers found that older people with lower levels of inflammation were all regular coffee drinkers.
That's right: regularly consuming caffeine can increase longevity by countering age-related inflammation! And that's not all.
According to HealthLine, caffeine can temporarily improve mood, reaction time, memory, vigilance, and general brain function, while also helping you perform better physically and burn more fat. A smarter, stronger you—before the energy crash, of course.
Caffeine has also been shown to lower the risk of type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's. So while it helps you live longer, it also helps you live healthier.
