CELEBRITY P!nk

Music journalist Marlena Katene, who has cerebral palsy, was kicked out of the VIP section at P!nk's Sydney concert, despite having paid $500 for the ticket. Katene who is in a wheelchair and has a medical carer was forced to give up her coveted front-and-center seats due to her condition.

In an interview with the Gold Coast Bulletin, Katene described the unjust treatment she received at the show. “I waited at 2 pm and was the seventh person in line so I was guaranteed a great spot,” she said. “I choose the tickets for a simple reason — social engagement.”

Katene explained that she had to give up the VIP spot she had paid for to be moved to a disability area that was far away in the bleachers. “We purchased tickets legally and nowhere was it stated that wheelchairs were not allowed,” Marlena said.

Things escalated when Katene and her carer questioned their removal from the VIP area, she wanted the security staff to state which policy was making them give up their seats. The music journalist claims that police were called and she was escorted out of the concert venue, stripped of her VIP tickets and wristbands, and told to stay 50 meters from the stadium premises.

Katene has reached out to P!nk and is currently seeking legal action.
