Australian actor Guy Pearce is learning about the new etiquette of Netflix while promoting his forthcoming series 'The Innocents.' When it comes to forbidden language, it's not cursed words that the streaming platform is staying away from, it's the term "binge-watching."
During an interview with The Empire Film Podcast, Pearce explained, “I don’t think Netflix likes the term ‘binge’. When we did the promotion for 'The Innocents' in the United States, we were strictly sort of instructed beforehand not to talk about ‘binge-watching’,” he said.
There are many people out there who would fully admit to being a Netflix addict. When you stay up late to finish an entire series that you only began watching yesterday you are a fully-fledged binge-watcher. It happens to the best of us.
So, what's the problem? In a 2013 press release, Netflix declared “binge watching was the new normal." With incredible shows such as 'Orange is the New Black,' 'Breaking Bad,' and perhaps now 'The Innocents,' it's hard to imagine why Netflix wouldn't want you to binge.
Guy Pearce's series 'The Innocents' is now available for streaming. Watch responsibly.
