LIFESTYLE Cosmetic surgery

If you thought cosmetic surgery was just for supermodels and housewives, a recent study is proving that going under the knife is far more common than ever before. The cosmetic treatment marketplace, RealSelf released a report, which found a third of the American population is considering getting Botox, cosmetic dental work or a tummy tuck in the next year.

While many feel that surgical correction for natural appearances is an extreme way to combat low self-esteem, others are finding freedom in a new face. The RealSelf study found that 26% of those surveyed claimed they were considering surgery due to “wanting to appear youthful at work” or “looking for or starting a new job.”

Dr. Melissa Doft told Moneyish that most of her clients name their career as the motivator behind getting work done. “Confident people are the people who excel in the world. It’s not just about the resume,” said Dr. Doft. “So if you are really sensitive about one physical part of your body, and you can change that and feel great about it, why not?”

Do you think cosmetic surgery could become commonplace? Or is getting work done for your workplace unnecessary?
