CELEBRITY Frankie muniz

Frankie Muniz is well known and loved for his lead role as the brainy middle child in the 00's hit TV show 'Malcolm in the Middle.' But the thing he's most remembered for has completely slipped his mind.

Acting wasn't his only passion, however, and Muniz actually signed a two-year deal with Jensen Motorsport as a wheel race car driver, according to Wet Paint. The TV show ended in 2006, by which time he was already competing in major championships.

Just three years later, at the height of his racing career, Muniz was involved in a crash that left him with a broken back and severe injuries to his ribs and hands. Three years after that, in 2012, he suffered a mini-stroke, and almost exactly a year later experienced a second one.

The topic of Muniz's medical history was popular when he appeared on 'Dancing with the Stars' in 2017, and Muniz explained it's "because I have a creaky, old body. I’m 31 but feel like I have the creaky, old body of a 71-year-old.” He revealed that in addition to the strokes he'd suffered nine concussions, several transient ischemic attacks, and that the brain injuries have stripped away his memory.

“Truth is, I don’t remember much [of Malcolm in the Middle],” he admitted. “It almost feels like it wasn’t me."

Meanwhile, people remember the show so well that they're still playing the circle game.

Muniz also revealed that his girlfriend keeps a daily diary for him in case his short-term memory starts to fail. But he's done trying to search for answers. “I’ve gone to so many neurologists who have done every single test. I have no answers as to why it happens [...] I’ve accepted it.”

His former costar Bryan Cranston, who played Muniz’s father in the show, appeared on the show and spoke on his fictional son's memory loss: “They are still his experiences. It will be my job [to remind him of things]. I will tell him, ‘Remember this? Remember that on Malcolm?’”

While it must be incredibly strange to watch yourself on TV with no memory of acting, Muniz's condition keeps him living in the present, which might not be a bad way to live.
